Baandee Pipeline
1.2 kilometres of DN800 MSCL pipeline, above ground.
The Baandee Pipeline was a critical water infrastructure installation for Water Corporation — the principal supplier of water, wastewater and drainage services to over 2 million people across Perth and WA. The project required 1.2 kilometres of DN800 Mild Steel Cement Lined (MSCL) pipeline installed in an above-ground configuration on engineered concrete support structures.
C&S Drainage Contractors designed and constructed the concrete supports along the full route — positioned to accommodate thermal expansion and operational stresses — and installed the pipeline itself with advanced welding procedures, expansion joints, and quality assurance including pressure testing and alignment verification, all to Water Corporation and Australian Standards.
The remote location and a demanding commissioning deadline called for a different way of working: our team ran a dedicated 12-day-on, 2-day-off roster to keep momentum continuous. The pipeline was completed in 2017 with minimal ground disturbance, erosion controls around every support foundation, and full restoration of disturbed areas — and it continues to serve WA’s water distribution network today.
